Field Hockey: Skyline celebrates seniors with win over Novi (see WLAA photo gallery)
The Skyline field hockey team honored their seniors Friday night with family, flowers and a favorable outcome in the Eagles’ home game with Novi. Skyline scored early and often in a dominating 7-0 win over the visiting Wildcats in a Division 1 contest on a perfect night for field hockey.
Before the opening faceoff, parents – who were working various jobs during the game – joined their daughters on the field to celebrate Senior Night. The Eagles honored seven seniors: Lauren Courtright, Madi Masek, Molly Watza, Erin Page, Katie Mayer, Rani Nathwani and Kelsey Walworth.
“We are proud of the seniors that we honored (Friday),” says Skyline Coach Nicole Barrett. “They have all contributed on and off the field to the program. Skyline field hockey will miss them and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.”

They certainly helped the Eagles put up their best against Novi. Madi Masek put the Eagles on the scoreboard quickly to start the game and they never looked back.
Skyline dominated the middle of the field, creating numerous rushes and quality scoring chances. Masek, Jessica Courtright and Coco Courtright each scored twice in the win. Lauren Courtright also had a goal. And goalie Erin Page recorded the shutout for the Eagles.
It was another step in the right direction for the defending Division 2 state champions now playing in Division 1 against the likes of Dexter, Pioneer and Huron.
The seniors have a lot to be proud of and more games to play this season.
“Skyline field hockey strives to provide a fit for all players that work hard, challenge themselves and have a great positive attitude,” Barrett says. “Our senior leadership has modeled this mantra.”
