Field Hockey 2019 Awards: Local high school players honored by MHSFHA
Michigan High School Field Hockey Association recently announced a number of awards and honors for the past 2019 season. Here are the local winners:
Player of the Year: Dexter midfielder Abigail Tamer is the winner of the first ever Michigan Player of the Year award. The criteria include strong academic standing, major impact on her team in the season, exemplification of sportsmanship and a statistical leader in her position. As a captain this year, she helped lead her team to a regular season Co-Championship, SEC Red Conference Championship and Division 1 State Championship. Tamer tallied 36 goals scored and 14 assists in the regular season. In Dexter’s playoff run she had five goals and two assists.

Division 1 All-State Team

Division 2 West All-State Team
Skyline: Jessica Courtright, Isabel Stille and Molly Watza.
Father Gabriel Richard: Caroline Falahee.
At the end of the field hockey season, players in their senior year are eligible to receive a MHSFHA All State Academic Award Certificate for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher (based on grades calculated at the end of their junior year, un-weighted, unrounded for a 4.0 scale).

Greenhills: Violet Amezaga, Catherine Ballard, Gretchen Parrish, Natalie Sell and Jane Vaillant.
