YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University Associate Professor of Management Salar Mesdaghinia has been recognized by the Human Resources Division of Academy of Management (AOM) with the International HRM Scholarly Research award for his research paper “Perceived organizational support (POS) across 54 nations: A cross-cultural meta-analysis of POS effects” (Rockstuhl, T., Eisenberger, R., Shore, L., Kurtessis, J. N., Ford, M. T., Buffardi, L. C., & Mesdaghinia, S.), which was published in the Journal of International Business Studies in 2020.

The award recognizes Mesdaghinia’s work as one of the most significant articles published in recognized journals and research annuals that are generally available to Division members.

Mesdaghinia’s research paper was chosen by a committee of HR Division members from multiple regions of the world and is considered to have advanced scholarship in international human resources management (IRHM) and its implications for domestic human resources (HR) and international management (IM).

Professor Mesdaghinia is no novice when it comes to generating high-impact scholarship. Since 2017, he has twice earned best-paper awards from the Academy  of Management, one from the Organizational Behavior Division and the other from the Management, Spirituality, and Religion Interest Group and was a nominee for the Carolyn B. Dexter Award, granted to the paper that best internationalizes the organization, together with a best-presentation award from the Conference on Commitment.

Research excellence in IHRM is unique because of its intersection among multiple fields of management, such as human resource management and international management. Scholars working in IHRM have the ability to make a contribution not only to IHRM, but also to broader areas of management – giving colleagues in traditional human resources a broader contextual understanding of their work.

The Academy of Management is the preeminent professional association for management and organization scholars. Founded in 1936, its global community today is nearly 20,000 strong and spans over 120 countries.

The Human Resources Division of the Academy is dedicated to understanding, identifying, and improving the effectiveness of HR practices to facilitate organizational competitiveness nationally or internationally, encourage individual growth and development, and enhance individual performance, work-related attitudes, and well-being.

As one of the Academy of Management’s largest divisions with over 2800+ members, it serves as a gathering place for academics and practitioners to create networks aimed at discovering and disseminating state-of-the-art HR knowledge.
