YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University Esports, Engage@EMU, and Gen.G are joining forces again this summer for a series of virtual and in-person eSports summer camps.

Through July and August, students across Michigan and the United States will have the opportunity to sharpen their eSports skills while playing their favorite games with competitive players and industry professionals.

The summer’s offerings include two virtual camps, Girls in Gaming and Behind the Design SAG, and two in-person camps, NBA 2K Camp (July 27-29) and Super Smash Bros Camp (July 14-16).

Girls in Gaming will be hosted virtually on Wednesday, August 4 through Friday, August 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. and is open to grades 9-12. Registration is required and costs $25.

The Behind the Design SAG Camp will be hosted virtually on Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23 from 1-3 p.m. The camp is open to grades 9-12. Registration is required and costs $40.

The in-person camps will each have 14 slots available on a first-come, first-served basis. The NBA 2K Camp is open to grades 9-12 and will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27 through Thursday, July 29. Registration is required and costs $85.

The Super Smash Bros Camp will be hosted in person on Wednesday, July 14 through Friday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp is open to grades 5-12. Registration is required and costs $85.

While SAG, Girls in Gaming, and Smash are returning favorites, NBA 2K is an exciting new addition to the EMU Esports summer camp curriculum. The camp will teach students “the intricacies of NBA 2K from pros such as Feast and TurnUpDefense and get some time to play basketball,” shares camp designer Charles Spencer. “We will also teach how to make the best builds for different positions that fit the camper’s play style. In the end, campers face off first against one of the pros and then each other in some 2K. This week will help campers learn more of the game and ways that will get them better from some of the best around.”

The NBA 2K and Super Smash Bros camps will both take place at EMU’s Rec/IM Center, located at 500 E Circle Dr. in Ypsilanti. Social Distancing and Masks will be required.

Scholarships are also available.

More information and registration can be found at the camp registration homepage.
