Detour Ahead: Road construction updates in and around Ann Arbor
Liberty Street, Westbound Closure from Main Street to First Street: Thursday, April 15. Beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, the intersection of Ashley/Liberty will be closed to address unforeseen field conditions found during the construction of the DDA/City of Ann Arbor First and Ashley Improvements Project. Through traffic on Ashley Street will be maintained. This is a one-day closure; the work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021, and the road reopened to westbound vehicle traffic.
Pedestrian through-traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 16, Fuller Road traffic will be reduced to one lane eastbound across the bridges to allow the work to proceed. The sidewalk along the eastbound bridge will be closed as well to safely facilitate the work. A sidewalk closure and pedestrian detour to the opposite side of the roadway will be provided to maintain access to the surrounding areas. Signs directing pedestrians will be erected on site. Once the repair work on the eastbound lane is completed, a similar process will be utilized to repair the barrier wall, bridge deck, and sidewalk for the westbound lane. Again, pedestrian access will be maintained in a similar manner throughout that work. Continuous access across the bridges will be maintained throughout the entirety of the planned work.
Pontiac Trail between Skydale Drive and Polson Street: Monday, April 19, at 9 a.m.– Friday, May 28, at 3 p.m. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 12, northbound Pontiac Trail will be closed to through traffic between Skydale Drive and Montana Way for road widening. Southbound traffic will be maintained.
Northbound Pontiac Trail traffic will be detoured to eastbound Barton Drive, then eastbound Plymouth Road, then northbound Nixon Road, then westbound Dhu Varren Road, back to Pontiac Trail.
Local access to driveways will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be maintained. Emergency vehicles will need to follow detour.
Fuller Court from Fuller Road to 2250 Fuller Court. Monday, April 19, at 7 a.m.– Friday, June 4, at 7 p.m. Beginning on Monday, April 12, the eastbound lane of Fuller Court from Fuller Road to the 2000 block of Fuller Court will be closed as part of the Fuller Court Sidewalk Gap Project . Vehicles travelling eastbound on Fuller Court will be detoured along Fuller Road around the north side of the VA hospital.
East Ann Street and Observatory Street, between Zina Pitcher and East Medical Center Drive: Monday, April 19, at 9 a.m.– Monday, May 3, at 9 a.m. Eagle Excavation Inc., on behalf of the University of Michigan, will be occupying the eastbound lane of East Ann Street and the southbound lane of Observatory Street, between Zina Pitcher Place and East Medical Center Drive, to install new 16-inch water main. Construction will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. during the work week.
Beginning 9 a.m., Monday, April 19, traffic on East Ann Street east of Zina Pitcher Place and Observatory north of East Medical Center Drive will be restricted. Traffic on eastbound Ann Street will be detoured south on Zina Pitcher, to east on Washtenaw, to north on Observatory. Traffic at Observatory and East Medical Center Drive will be detoured south on Observatory, west on Washtenaw, and north on Zina Pitcher.
