City of Ann Arbor road and lane closure updates
Broadway from Swift Street to East Summit Avenue: Tuesday, March 9, at 8 a.m.–Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, Broadway traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction across the bridges to allow work as part of the city’s 2020 Bridge Capital Preventative Maintenance Repair project. Access to the Amtrak long-term parking lot located on the east side of the railroad tracks will be maintained at all times during the work. Patrons of Amtrak will be able to walk from the long-term parking lot, across the bridge, to the train station at all times during the work. The remaining pedestrian traffic travelling along Broadway will be diverted to the opposite side of street to allow the work to proceed. Signs directing pedestrians will be placed onsite.
Ashley Area Road work
- First Street and Kingsley Street from Miller to Ashley — Monday, March 8–Monday, May 31
- Ashley Street at Washington Street — Monday, March 8–Saturday, March 20
- Ashley Street from Liberty to Huron — Lane closures Monday, March 8–Monday, May 31
- Ashley Street from Liberty to Washington — full closure Thursday, March 11–Saturday, March 20
- Ashley Street at Liberty Street — Monday, March 22–Wednesday, March 24
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, March 8:
- First Street and Kingsley Street will be closed from Ashley Street to Miller Street to allow for utility installations and paving. Vehicles traveling westbound on Kingsley Street will be detoured south on Ashley Street, then west on Miller Avenue back to First Street. Local traffic will be maintained between Ashley St and Miller Ave. This work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2021, and the road reopened to vehicle traffic.
- Ashley Street will be open to only one lane of traffic travelling north from just south of Liberty Street to Huron Street (except from March 11–March 20, as described below). This work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2021, and the road reopened to all lanes of vehicle traffic.
- Ashley Street and Washington Street will be closed leading up to the Ashley and Washington intersection. Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley Street will be detoured east on Liberty Street, then north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street back to Ashley Street. Vehicles traveling eastbound on Washington Street will be detoured south on First Street, then east on Liberty Street, then north on Fourth Avenue back to Washington Street. Vehicles traveling westbound on Washington Street will be detoured north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street, then south on First Street back to Washington Street. Local traffic will be maintained on Ashley and Washington. This work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, and the intersection reopened to vehicle traffic.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 11:
- Ashley Street will be closed to through traffic from Liberty Street to Washington Street. Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley Street will be detoured east on Liberty Street, then north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Huron Street back to Ashley Street. Local traffic will be maintained between Liberty Street and Washington Street. This work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, and the road reopened to one lane of traffic.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, March 22:
- Ashley Street and Liberty Street will be closed leading up to the intersection of Ashley and Liberty. Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley Street will be detoured east on William Street, then north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Washington Street back to Ashley Street. Vehicles traveling eastbound on Liberty Street will be detoured south on First Street, then east on William Street, then north on Fourth Avenue back to Liberty Street. Vehicles traveling westbound on Liberty Street will be detoured north on Fourth Avenue, then west on Washington Street, then south on First Street back to Liberty Street. Local traffic will be maintained on Ashley and Liberty. This work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, and the intersection reopened to vehicle traffic.
