Boys Basketball: Pioneers win second straight after knocking off Bedford

The Pioneer boys’ basketball team used a big second half to knock off host Bedford 59-44 on Friday night in an SEC Red Division match-up. After a loss to city-rival Skyline, the Pioneers have now won two in row after beating Saline and now Bedford.

Pioneer has a quick turnaround with a game on Saturday, Jan. 25 against Lakeland at Detroit Country Day at 5 p.m.

Pioneer led 13-10 after the first quarter against the Kicking Mules. Bedford outscored the visitors 14-8 in the second quarter to take a 24-21 lead into halftime.

But the Pioneers went on a 14-6 run in the third quarter and then outscored the hosts 24-14 in the fourth quarter to lock up the win.

Koebe Moore made 6 of 12 shots from the field to finish with a team-high 18 points. Macail Fly had 14 points and Conor Easthope had eight points and a team-high 13 rebounds and four steals for the Pioneers. Rasheed Sampson (five rebounds) and Aidan Lee (two steals) each had five points.

Bankaly Camara had four points and Mac VanRenterghem had three points and six assists. Demarcus Dewolf had two points.
