Boys Basketball: Eagles turn up the defense in 63-44 win over Saline
The Skyline boys’ basketball team had a great full-team effort on Friday and knocked off Saline 63-44 during Winterfest Spirit Week. Skyline started strong and consistently worked to build on the lead throughout the game.
The Eagles worked to get the ball inside early and had really high intensity on the defensive end to build a 14-6 first-quarter lead. Skyline and Saline battled in the second quarter back and forth which ended in a Skyline 29-20 lead.
In the second half, Skyline came out firing on all cylinders on both ends of the court winning the third quarter 19-5 to build a 48-25 lead after three.
Skyline finished strong in the fourth quarter ending with a 63-44 win.
Players of the game for Skyline were Gabe Kellman, James Harrison and Ashay Arora who defensively held Trevor Arico to 6 points, all from the free-throw line, and giving up no field goals for him during the game.
Offensively, Skyline was led by Jack Williams with 17 points/6 rebounds, Kabir Bergin with 13 points/7 rebounds, Denali DeLoach with 8 points/5 rebounds and Jermaine Davis with 7 points/3 rebounds. Chirs Cayton played a great game defensively adding 5 points and 6 assists.
Skyline plays at home next Tuesday against Manchester.
