Baseball: Skyline breaks open game vs. Huron with offensive fireworks

For the first four innings on Saturday, Skyline and Huron battled back and forth in an SEC baseball showdown between the two city rivals. Huron led 2-1 after one before Skyline took a 4-2 lead after three. Huron cut the lead to 5-4 after four – and that’s when everything changed.

The Eagles took off from there, scoring four runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and three more in the seventh while putting up zeros in the bottom of each inning. Skyline landed in the win column with a 15-4 victory.

The Eagles finished with 14 hits (and three errors) while the River Rats collected six hits and only one error.

Skyline had four pitchers take the hill. Landry Jobe started and allowed four hits with two strikeouts over three innings. Aidan Suliman worked two innings and allowed two runs and three walks. Robert Hamman and Ian Decz each pitched an inning in relief.

Skyline’s Eli Bishar was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI. Jobe was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and four runs scored. Lewis McCammon (a double) and Jake Middleton each had two hits and three RBI for the Eagles. Ryan Gensheimer had a hit, two walks and two RBI. Decz had a hit, walk, RBI and two runs scored and Owen Sluymers-Tuccinardi walked twice and scored three runs. Charlie Andrew-Vaughan hit a double and scored a run.
