Baseball: River Rats knock off Wyandotte Roosevelt in non-league game
The Huron baseball team won its fourth game in a row with a 7-1 win on Friday over host Wyandotte Roosevelt. The River Rats had won their three previous games – all against Ypsilanti – by a combined score of 57-0.
The game against the Bears wasn’t as easy as Wyandotte led 1-0 after three innings. The River Rats finally cranked up the offense with a five-run fourth inning and tacked on two more in the fifth to take control.
Huron had seven hits and just one error; Wyandotte had two hits and two errors.
Ozan Uyulur started and worked two innings, ringing up five strikeouts while allowing one earned run but five walks. Creed Villanueva pitched the final five innings and had six strikeouts with no hits and just one walk.
Uyulur led the Huron offense with three hits in three at-bats with two runs scored and a walk. Ben Lauer, Noah Mahmoud, Ethan Moran and Sebastian Casillas-Lopez all had hits for the River Rats.
