Annual Parkridge Summer Festival, Joe Dulin Community Day Saturday, Aug. 27 

The Annual Parkridge Summer Festival and Joe Dulin Community Day, slated for Saturday, August 27, 2022, will offer local entertainment, food and merchandise vendors, and free community resources for local families. The free event is a partnership between the Parkridge Summer Festival Committee and Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED). The event, which will take place at Parkridge Park in Ypsilanti, is schedule from 11am to 6pm, with the resource tent available from 12 to 2:30 p.m.

“The Summerfest Committee has put together a great entertainment show alongside a shared space where residents can have access to information about countywide human service resources in Parkridge Park,” said Washtenaw County Commissioner Ricky Jefferson. “We are delighted to have the Michigan Medicine Team from the University of Michigan join us this year. We are grateful for a continued partnership with the Washtenaw County Office of Economic Development for the opportunity to provide a safe space in our community where people from everywhere are welcome to come and have a good time.”

  • Kenyatta Rashad
  • Funk Wagon
  • Ypsilanti Community Schools Choir (Crystal Harding)
  • Other local artists

Joe Dulin Community Day is hosted annually as part of the overall event and features various resources available to Washtenaw County residents in a fun and friendly environment that encourages increased awareness and greater access to services. In particular, the nonprofit resource tent will be available from 12pm to 2:30pm and includes more than 60 nonprofits, social service agencies, and community organizations onsite to provide information and free resources to families.

New or featured resources at the tent this year include:

Hot dogs, chips, water, and dessert will be available for all who attend. Grills, alcohol, and dogs are prohibited from the festival.

The late Joe Dulin, was the founding principal of Ann Arbor’s Roberto Clemente Student Development Center, serving students who struggled to be successful in traditional school environments. Mr. Dulin is also responsible for making National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) a nationwide annual day.  We honor his commitment to the community with this annual event.
