AAPS: ‘Such an amazing day’ – Tappan teacher provides 300 meals for AAPS families
Every year, Tappan science teacher Stacey Greene and her husband, Seth, search for a local organization to support. This year, their friend, Sheldon Alexander, had started a catering company called “Foodies” around the beginning of the pandemic. So the Greenes thought that partnering with him would be a great way to help feed those in the community while supporting his business.
After coordinating it all with Sky Woodman at the Bryant Community Center, Foodies was parked at Bryant Elementary Saturday, and nearly 300 hot meals were given to those in the Bryant/Pattengill/Tappan community.
“We were inspired by our friend Sheldon at Foodies, who throughout the pandemic, has graciously given out hundreds, if not thousands, of free meals to front line workers,” said Green. “We wanted to bring this opportunity to Ann Arbor families who may have been in need of a warm meal during such difficult times. It was such an amazing day interacting with community members and being able to spread some joy. We would really like to do something like this again soon.”
Foodies provides free meals on Saturdays in downtown Ann Arbor at the corner of Jefferson and Ashley, using donations from community members.
“As Sheldon says, ‘Giving is infectious,’” said Green, “and this is his way of giving back to his community.”
