AAPS: Juried art shows feature work of AAPS students

The artwork of several AAPS students from all grades has been entered into the juried Region 3 Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA) Show now on display at the Ann Arbor Public Library through Feb. 20.

The art was judged, and selected works will move next to the State Show at the University of Michigan Taubman Gallery, 1500 E. Medical Center Drive.

“With all the complications and hardships the pandemic has caused, we are thrilled to be able to share with the community the beauty and stories as a view from our students’ eyes,” says Sarah George, visual arts instructor at Eberwhite Elementary. “This annual show is a great way to celebrate student artists from all across the state.”

The K-8 State Exhibition will be held for the first time from March 15 through May 15 at the University of Michigan’s Taubman Gallery, while Secondary (high school) Exhibition dates are to be determined at the Ann Arbor District Library 343 S 5th Avenue.

For high schoolers who are considering a career in the art field it’s a perfect opportunity to prepare their best work and showcase it into a juried show without any cost to the student, George said.

Districts that participated in the MAEA Region 3 Show 2022 include Adrian, Ann Arbor, Britton Deerfield, Clinton, Dexter, Dundee, and Tecumseh.

The State Show will include pieces from schools all across the state of Michigan! There are so many works of art at the State Show it can be difficult to find a space to house all of it under the same roof! So the elementary and middle school level (K-8) art will be displayed at the Taubman Gallery and the high school level art will be displayed at the Ann Arbor District Library.
