By the end of the day Tuesday, the AAPS Technology Department—with the help of many staff volunteers—had distributed 1,850 devices to AAPS families so their children can stay connected remotely during the shutdown.

Chad Bertelson, the district’s manager of mobile computing and instructional integration, said the rollout over several days was a huge effort that required many volunteers.

“I want to thank the Ann Arbor staff and all the teachers that are working and helping the students that now have these devices,”he said. “And I want to thank the Ann Arbor community as a whole. We all stepped up to this and we’re going to get through this.”

“Stay safe, everyone. Stay healthy. And I’ll see you at the end of this.”
