The Guild of Artists & Artisans’ Announces POP! a pop culture art exhibition
ANN ARBOR – The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild) is excited to announce its latest exhibition at the Gutman Gallery, POP! a pop culture art exhibition . The exhibition features work from 11 artists, all centering around iconic themes and popular culture past and present.
The exhibition runs October 2-24. Gutman Gallery is open Wednesday and Friday from 11am – 4pm and Saturday from 10am – 4pm, or by appointment.
In mid-February, The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild), most well known for producing the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, launched the Gutman Gallery, a fine art gallery and shop located at 118 N Fourth Ave. in Downtown Ann Arbor. Named after Vic Gutman, the founding director of The Guild, Gutman Gallery was developed to align with The Guild’s mission to provide its members with marketing opportunities, which serve as educational, cultural and entertaining opportunities for the community.
Due to COVID, the gallery closed in March, re-opening in July with an exhibition featuring work from jury-selected Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair artists. Since reopening this summer, The Guild has been taking measures to create a safe and comfortable environment for its community of artists and art-lovers. Surfaces are wiped down regularly, touchless payments are an option for all transactions, capacity is limited to allow for social distancing and masks are required to be worn by employees and patrons while in the gallery (masks are available to patrons who do not have their own). Hand sanitizer, provided by Gutman Gallery partner, Mammoth Distilling is accessible at the entrance/exit, and in the gallery.
Starting in August, The Guild began hosting artists for outdoor Artist Pop-Up Shops in front of the gallery each Saturday. As an extension of the shop, 2-3 artists set-up displays of their artwork in the parking spaces in front of the gallery. Artist Pop-Up Shops run from 9am-4pm, weather permitting and add another fun way for artists and patrons to connect safely during these uncertain times.
Not quite ready to visit the gallery in-person yet? Patrons can shop online, schedule curbside pick-up, or shop virtually with gallery staff. To schedule a virtual shopping experience, email Elizabeth Youngs at elizabeth@theguild.org . Additionally, shoppers are welcome to request private in-person viewings of the exhibition and shopping experiences.
