Golf: Skyline varsity head to SEC finale at 12-1; JV team wins league tournament

The Skyline girls’ golf team finished their SEC regular season with two more wins last Thursday in a tri-match at Lake Forest. The Eagles landed with a 12-1 SEC record heading into the SEC finale on Thursday at Rustic Glen.

Pioneer is in first place with an undefeated record as the conference championship will come down to the two Ann Arbor teams come Thursday.

Skyline had no problems carding wins over Bedford and Lincoln. The Eagles fired an impressive team score of 183. Bedford was second (200) and Lincoln third (209).

Adie Maki continued her impressive season. The junior fired a 37 to finish first overall on the day. Junior Riya Patchava also had a strong round, firing a 43.

Senior Mackenzie Dempsey (51), senior Alison Marshall (52), junior Lucy Stoy (53) and sophomore Ella Kucinski (58) all played well for Skyline.

Junior Varsity

The Skyline JV team (above) finished first overall in their SEC tournament on Friday at Huron Hills. The Eagles won going away with a strong team score of 339. Dexter was a distant second with a 380 followed by Saline (383), Bedford (407), Huron (434) and Pioneer (455).

The teams only played 13 of the 18 holes because five were under construction.

Skyline had six players among the top 10 along with a tie for first place. A putting competition was the tie-breaker. Dylan Schueler took first followed by Tess Bazzani and Reva Patchava (all three tied for first place overall). Val von Rutte with fifth, Alana Eisman seventh and Hailey Chaconas ninth for the Eagles.
