Swimming: Pioneer swims past Saline in SEC dual-meet

The Pioneer swimming and diving team splashed past SEC rival Saline 127-59 in an SEC dual-meet on Thursday at Pioneer.

The team of Ryan Hume, Vaughn Hajra, Robert Yang and Matthew Segal got things started with a first-place time of 1:36.88 in the medley relay.

Teodor Jaworski took second (1:47.13) and Gabriel Labadie third (1:47.20) in the 200 freestyle.

Hume won the 200 IM in 2:00.37 with Cameron Williston second (2:03.28), Caleb Rice third (2:08.37) and Alec Lipham fourth (2:09.04).

Segal won the 50 free in 21.53 with Hajra third (22.72) and Jack Shemke fourth (23.16).

Cole Tremewan won the diving with 286 points. Max Rolla-Mullis was third with 187.10 points.

Yang won the butterfly in 53.42 and Koa Williams was third (56.27) and Justin Su fourth (56.99) for the Pioneers.

Labadie won the 100 free in 49.75. Shemke was third (50.34) and Gabriel Sanchez-Burks was fourth (52.17).

Segal returned to the winner’s circle with a first-place time of 4:44.85 in the 500 free. Williston took second in 4:46.93 and Jaworski was third in 4:57.19 as the Pioneers took the top three spots.

The team of Hajra, Alex Farmer, Segal and Rice won the 200 free relay in 1:30.08.

Williams won the backstroke in 59.51 with Lipham fourth in 1:01.99.

In the breaststroke, Hajra was second (59.80), Farmer third (1:05.12) and Gabriel Almeida fourth (1:06.67).

The team of Yang, Jaworski, Hume and Farmer won the 400 free relay in 3:23.08. The team of Williston, Labadie, Rice and Lipham was second in 3:26.72.
