Boys Swimming: Pioneer takes first place at 74th annual Cereal Bowl Relays
Battle Creek Central hosted the 74th annual Cereal Bowl Relays on Saturday and the Pioneer boys’ teams swam away with first-place honors. Pioneer finished with an impressive 354 points in a very competitive field. Battle Creek Lakeview was second with 314 points and Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central earned third place with 304 points.
Pioneer winning relays included the 200 Breaststroke (Sung-Jae Lee, Samuel Fonte, Erik Anderson, Vaughn Hajra), 500 Up-Down (Alex Farmer, Alec Lipham, Cameron Williston, Teodor Jaworski, Tristan Serr), 400 Freestyle (Gabriel Labadie, Alex Farmer, Alec Lipham, Matthew Segal), 400 IM (Ryan Hume, Caleb Rice, Sung-Jae Lee, Vaughn Hajra), 400 Medley (Cameron Williston, Vaughn Hajra, Robert Yang, Teodor Jaworski), 800 Freestyle (Matthew Segal, Teodor Jaworski, Alec Lipham, Caleb Rice), 200 Medley (Ryan Hume, Sung-Jae Lee, Robert Yang, Cameron Williston), and 200 Freestyle (Alex Farmer, Koa Williams, Gabriel Labadie, Matthew Segal).
Relay state qualification cuts were accomplished in the 400 Freestyle (Gabriel Labadie, Alex Farmer, Alec Lipham, Matthew Segal), 200 Medley (Ryan Hume, Sung-Jae Lee, Robert Yang, Cameron Williston), and 200 Freestyle (Alex Farmer, Koa Williams, Gabriel Labadie, Matthew Segal).
Segal earned an individual state cut in the 200 Freestyle.
