Sunday in the Park to Benefit ALS Research
ANN ARBOR – Active Against ALS will host a FREE fundraising event on Sunday, Sept. 18 to raise awareness of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and funds for ALS research.
The event will be held from 2:00 – 4:30 PM at Burns Park in Ann Arbor and includes various activities such as arts and crafts, fitness workshops, an obstacle course, corn hole and more. Raffle items include an Apple watch, numerous gift cards for local restaurants and other area businesses. Food will be available for sale by Shimmy Shack vegan food truck as well as grilled brats, hot dogs, and a variety of baked goods. There will also be a Silent Auction including a week at a Lake Michigan cottage, a weekend at the Inn at Bay Harbor, a Zingerman’s BAKE! Class for two and other items.

About ALS
ALS ( aka Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a neurological disease that primarily affects the nerve cells (neurons) responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movement (those muscles we choose to move). Voluntary muscles produce movements like chewing, walking, and talking. The disease is progressive, meaning the symptoms get worse over time. Currently, there is no cure for ALS and no effective treatment to halt or reverse the progression of the disease.
