Boys Cross Country: Eagles land third at Lamplighter Invitational (WLAA photo gallery)

The Skyline boys’ cross country team opened the season under the lights and it appears the Eagles have a bright future ahead of them in 2022.

Skyline left the starting blocks on Friday night at the always popular and fun Lamplighter Invitational in Livonia and crossed the finish line in third place out of 16 teams. The boys’ varsity race took off at 10:30 p.m. at night with well-placed portable lights set up around the course.

Northville dominated the race and finished first with 66 points, followed by Romeo (123) and Skyline (125). Detroit Catholic Central was fourth (163) and SEC rival Dexter was fifth (178).

There were two varsity boys’ races with Livonia Stevenson winning the other race with 48 points followed by Howell (56).

The Eagles featured three runners among the top 20 finishers. Senior Nicolas Fry led the way with his ninth-place finish time of 16 minutes, 32.1 seconds. Junior Luke Suliman was 12th in 16:32.9 and senior Christopher Van Lent was 16th in 16:51.7.

A pair of juniors were next for Skyline with Mason Jett (31st, 17:30.2) and Paul Minock (60th, 18:26.5).

Senior Aidan Hale (79th, 18:48.8), sophomore Parker Razelun (120th, 20:24.7), freshman Bruno Cifaldi (121st, 20:26.2), sophomore Jack Huber(131st, 21:08.1) and sophomore Jack Robichaud (137th, 22:10.8) round out the Skyline lineup.

The Eagles will run on Thursday, Sept. 1 at the Saline Early Bird.
