Water Polo: Huron girls’ team receives honors, heads to State Finals at U-M

The RIver Rats are on the move!
Huron water polo captain/senior Emma Kaipainen earned MVP of BOTH the All-Region Tournament and Season! She will lead the River Rats to their State Championship weekend, June 3-4, at Canham Natatorium at the University of Michigan.
Also earning accolades from the Michigan Water Polo Association for the Rats were Captain/Seniors Zannah Baker (first team, All-Region; first team, Regional Tournament), Lydia Hargett, captain/senior, goalie (first team, All-Region; first team, Regional Tournament); senior Margo Leone (honorable mention All-Region; second team, Regional Tournament), and captain/senior Alli Sutton (honorable mention All-Region), second team, All-Tournament ).
The Rats dominated the Region, with wins during the May 20-21 Regional tournament over Saline, Pioneer, and Grand Blanc. They will face Jenison for their first State Championship game on June 3 at 11 am. It promises to be a thrilling weekend of polo!
