Ann Arbor Art Commission Seeks Public Participation in Plans to Use a Half-million $ in Federal Funds
The Ann Arbor Public Art Commission (AAPAC) invites the community to participate in their Wednesday, June 1, 2022, meeting, beginning at 7 p.m., to share thoughts with AAPAC on how to allocate $500,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds dedicated to arts in the community. The meeting will begin with a brief presentation of the rules and guidelines governing the use of the funds followed by a community discussion. A meeting link will be provided HERE on the day of the meeting.
The addition of dedicated funding for the arts was added near the end of the City of Ann Arbor’s ARPA in response to input from the community. To help detail how funding for arts is distributed, AAPAC, the commission-appointed advisory body for matters relating to public art, will accept community input to help shape recommendation to City Council on how to distribute the funds.
It is critical to the city that artists, non-profits, students and other art interested members of the community participate so funding decisions can be made with the most robust public input possible.
