Soccer: Skyline and Saline both come up winners before Eagles win on the pitch

The Skyline and Saline soccer teams have a long and exciting rivalry on the soccer pitch but the two teams came together on Thursday. Prior to the game, the teams gathered to recognize the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation. The teams created awareness of the foundation and DIPG with information at the game and supported the foundation with donations raised by the sale of wristbands and game jerseys.

Through the generous support of Skyline, the entrance fees collected at the gate were also donated to ChadTough.

On the pitch, the Eagles scored an impressive 2-1 win over the Hornets.

Sophia Morgan scored 5 minutes into the game on a free kick from the top of the box. Casey Vigo followed 10 minutes later, finishing the rebound of a long shot to make it 2-0.

Saline scored late in the half to close within one. Neither team was able to connect in the second half, and the game ended as a 2-1 win for Skyline.

On Saturday, the Eagles played a scoreless draw with Plymouth in a non-league game.

Earlier in the week, Skyline scored a 2-0 win over rival Pioneer. After a short corner and a Morgan cross in the first half, Ava DeBenedet finished to put the Eagles up 1-0.

In the second half, Hadley Zann scored to make it 2-0. It was a cold and windy night of very physical soccer, but the Eagles came away with a strong 2-0 victory over a good Pioneer team.

The Eagles have three games again this week: at Lincoln on 4/26; home vs. Huron on 4/28; and at Bedford on 4/23.
