Girls Hockey: Pioneer skates to 6-3 win over Brighton/Howell/Hartland

The Pioneer girls’ hockey team scored an impressive win on Wednesday with a 6-3 win over Brighton/Howell/Hartland (BHH). The Pioneers scored four goals in the second period to take a 4-2 lead and then scored two more in the third period to ice the game.

After trailing 1-0 after one, Pioneer’s Corey Flynn scored (with an assist from Nadia Tuzinsky) at 3:12 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. After BHH scored to make it 2-1, Tuzinsky scored the equalizer at 9:12 with assists from Piper Campbell and Victoria Joffe.

Ava Drabek scored an unassisted goal at 11:29 to give Pioneer its first lead of the game. Tuzinsky scored unassisted at 13:51 to give Pioneer a 4-2 lead.

BHH scored just 24 seconds into the third period to make it 4-3.

But Pioneer answered with two more goals. Campbell scored at 3:57 with an assist from Gabriella Prince and Tuzinsky scored unassisted at 10:35 to push the lead to 6-3.

BHH outshot Pioneer 23-21.
