Cross Country: Greenhills runs at Marauder Invitational (see WLAA photo gallery)
The Greenhills cross country team ran off to the annual Gibraltar Carlson Marauder Cross Country Invitational at Lake Erie Metropark on Saturday and the Gryphons had some strong times and a strong finish from the girls.
The Gryphons ran fourth overall against many bigger schools in the strong 10-team field.
Dearborn Divine Child landed three runners in the top seven and ran away with the Division 2-3-4 girls’ race with 49 points. Adrian was second (87), Carleton Airport third (114) and Greenhills was fourth (115) followed by Cabrini (125), Flat Rock (125), Huron (163), Grosse Ile (167), Monroe (210) and Garden City (213).
Anika Bery led Greenhills. The sophomore finished 10th with a time of 21:32.0. Senior Sonya Zacharek was 12th (23:17.8), sophomore Ava Kittendorf was 30th (23:31.9), junior Meezan Hamzavi was 31st (23:32.5), senior Georgie Branch was 33rd (23:34.8) and sophomore Navya Ashok was 40th (25:02.2).

In the Division 2-3-4 boys’ race, Riverview had four runners in the top 15 to cross first overall with a team score of 47 points. Huron had three runners in the top 20 and ran second overall with 87 points followed by Adrian (90). Riverview Gabriel Richard (111) was fourth and Flat Rock fifth (140).
Greenhills finished 11th with 246 points.
Sophomore Lincoln Cha was 23rd for the Gryphons with a time of 19:00.6. Junior Paul Prokhorov was 50th (21:16.8), freshman Mason Stranahan was 60th (22:11.4), freshman Howei Ding was 61st (22:39.8), sophomore Nate Gajar was 66th (23:02.0), sophomore Joseph Yoon was 69th (23:08.7) and freshman Alex Stillman was 71st (23:38.5).
