Hey Ann Arbor, Let WAZE curb your frustration

Getting around Ann Arbor in a motorized vehicle can be a challenge these days, with all the construction taking place on local roadways. Sure, short-term delays will provide long-term results, but it can be difficult to keep this positive perspective while sitting in a traffic jam. A possible way to curb the frustration? Know before you go!

A city webpage, road and lane closures at www.a2gov.org/roads, offers information to stay on track with detours and updates for this and all other planned road and lane closures throughout Ann Arbor. This webpage also features an interactive, live WAZE traffic map. The city partners with WAZE, a crowd-sourced navigation app, to provide a real-time way to learn about road and lane closures, detours and other traffic controls within the city.

In addition to visiting the city website to view the WAZE map, also visit www.waze.com or download the WAZE app on a mobile device. Further, subscribe to receive planned road and lane closure updates via email or text from the City of Ann Arbor by clicking on the envelope icon at www.a2gov.org/roads, or going directly to https://service.govdelivery.com/service/subscribe.html?code=MIANNA_3.

Among information featured on the roads webpage is the work taking place at North Maple Road and Jackson Avenue, pictured here. In June, a 20-inch watermain broke at the Maple/Jackson intersection causing extensive damage to the roadway, including the undermining of the existing pavement and curbs. The road is now being completely rebuilt from the base up. Work is expected to be completed by mid August, and in the meantime, detours are in place.

The city thanks motorists for their patience while road maintenance, improvements, and the associated frustrations, are in progress.
