Positive COVID test sidelines Huron basketball teams

The Huron basketball teams are in self-quarantine following a positive COVID test this week.

Huron Athletic Director Tony Whiren said the boys’ team will return to action on Feb. 26 for their game with Saline. The girls’ team will return to action on Feb. 20.

“It’s been very emotional as we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe,” Whiren said on Friday morning. “Sometimes that’s not enough. But we will continue to work hard to be ready and make sure we remain safe and healthy.”

The situation of course has a ripple effect. Skyline, which played Huron last week, is currently in self quarantine through next Tuesday. The two teams were scheduled to play on Friday (Feb. 19) but the game will be rescheduled. The two teams played on Saturday with the River Rats winning in overtime.

The Eagles are scheduled to play Lincoln on Tuesday and Ypsilanti on Friday.
