Opening Friday: The Guild of Artists & Artisans with Gutman Gallery Announce reUNITED
ANN ARBOR – The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild) is excited to announce its latest exhibition at the Gutman Gallery, reUNITED. The exhibition, featuring work from 18 artists, highlights the end of 2020 and all that comes with a new beginning, new year, and new leadership. The exhibition runs January 22 – February 27, and Gutman Gallery is open Wednesday – Saturday 11AM – 5PM.
The exhibition consists of 28 pieces, including large-scale multimedia works by Laila Kujala, bronze figurative sculptures from returning artist, Laura Teste, and an acrylic painting only on display virtually from Lithuanian artist, Tomas Lagūnavičius. The works are inspired by “the pain and anxiety experienced in living the pandemic reality” – Laila Kujala; “surviving the isolation and losses of 2020” – Barbara Carson; “peaceful feelings of calmness, serenity and security in the new year with a new administration” – Phyllis Jarvis; and show a wide variety of takes on the exhibition theme.
The Guild continues to take measures to create a safe and comfortable environment for its community of artists and art-lovers. Surfaces are wiped down regularly, touchless payments are an option for all transactions, capacity is limited to allow for social distancing and masks are required to be worn by employees and patrons while in the gallery (masks are available to patrons who do not have their own). Hand sanitizer, provided by Gutman Gallery partner, Mammoth Distilling is accessible at the entrance/exit, and in the gallery.
