EMU’s Susan Schanne receives The Association for Business Communication’s 2020 Rising Star Award

YPSILANTI – Susan Schanne, Eastern Michigan University College of Business Writing Center consultant and lecturer of management, has been named The Association for Business Communication’s (ABC) 2020 Rising Star.

ABC’s Rising Star Award recognizes the meaningful contributions to the mission and membership of the Association and to the business communication field at large through excellent teaching, research, and/or practical applications. The international award recognizes only one recipient each year.

“In particular, ABC is grateful to Ms. Schanne for her outstanding service, including inspiring work as a conference chair,” the association said in a news release.

Schanne received her master’s of science in administration from Central Michigan University and has been a part time lecturer at Eastern Michigan University since 1996. She is an EMU alumna, having completed her bachelor’s degree in management. In 2014, she started working in the writing center as a consultant to help improve students’ writing.

Since its founding in 1935, ABC has grown into a premier international business communication organization. ABC has five regional divisions in the U.S. and four international divisions.
