Cross Country: FGR boys sixth, girls second at AA Run Co Hornet Early Bird Invite

The Ann Arbor Run Co Hornet Early Bird Invitational helps kick off the cross country season and several local teams lined up for the annual race on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Huron Meadows Park.

Chelsea ran away with first place in the Boys Blue Varsity Division finishing with 30 points. Adrian was second with 52 points with Holly third (81), Ypsilanti Lincoln fourth (94) and Detroit Country Day fifth (155).

Father Gabriel Richard was sixth with 168 points in the 10-team field.

The Irish were led by junior Kenny Lashaway who finished 11^th in 17:57.97. Senior George Reynolds was 39^th in 19:27.78 and sophomore Stephen Wojtanowski was 43^rd in 19:37.22.

Girls Blue Division

The Irish girls had a strong showing at the Ann Arbor Run Co Hornet Early Bird Invitational. FGR finished second with 64 points, only 24 points behind winner Tecumseh. Dexter was third (82), Chelsea fourth (83) and Lincoln fifth (93).

The Irish had four runners place in the top 15: sophomore Gianna Hoving (eighth, 21:18.22); junior Izzie Lashaway (10^th, 21:29.42); senior Caroline Bodary (11^th, 21:32.98); and senior Jenna Locricchio (15^th, 21:58.55).
