Season Preview: Skyline volleyball looks to set more school records in 2019

The Skyline volleyball team has one goal this season – to pick right up where they left off last season. Sounds easy, but it’s certainly not because the Eagles raised the bar last season.

Under head coach Chis Cristian, the Eagles landed with the program’s first District title and Regional appearance in 2018. They went an impressive 33-10-3 and were city champs for the second straight year.

“We want to win the Region and see how far we can take it,” says Cristian, who is 57-23-6 as coach at Skyline. “We have powerful outside hitters in sisters Kendall and Harper Murray, very experienced libero in McKenna Pfeffer and a talented but young setter who has a year under her belt. But I have to say the entire team as a whole is our strength, because they are committed as a unit.”

Top returning players include senior Kendall Murray, senior McKenna Pfeffer and sophomore Lauren Lee. Top newcomers include freshman Harper Murray.

“We need to improve our passing, so that we can execute the offense,” Cristian said.

The Eagles opened the season by running the table at the SEC Red Jamboree on Tuesday at Saline. The Eagles went 5-0 on the day.

Their first conference match is Sept. 17 at Adrian.
