A fundraiser for The Ark

Get ready to Find Your Folk!  The annual Ann Arbor Folk Festival, a fundraiser for The Ark, returns to Hill Auditorium for two dynamic and different nights of folk and roots music on Friday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 beginning at 6:30 p.m. each night.

The Folk Festival will celebrate its 43rd year with a selection of the world’s finest traditional and contemporary performers.  Each night includes a blend of well-known and up-and-coming artists, providing you with an opportunity to hear artists you know and love while discovering great new talent. The lineup delivers the full spectrum of “Ark music,” presenting a taste of what’s happening on the leading edge of acoustic music while delving into the very heart of folk and roots traditions.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Friday night features the collaboration of Calexico and Iron & Wine, bringing together Sam Beam’s sparse, soulful arrangements and quietly smooth vocals with the moody Southwest Americana of Calexico—a marriage made in musical heaven! We also feature Ingrid Michaelson, known for her pure, infections melodies and as an Ark fan-favorite since she first graced The Ark stage in 2008. We round out night one of the festival with The Lone Bellow, Cedric Burnside, Rainbow Girls and Elliott BROOD.

SATURDAY NIGHT

Saturday night we feature Nathaniel Rateliff in an acoustic setting well-suited to feature his massive and alluring voice, as well as Mandolin Orange who first wowed the Folk Fest audience as a rising band in 2015. Saturday night’s program also includes longtime friend of The Ark, the legendary Bettye LaVette, plus Molly Tuttle, John Moreland, and Michigan’s own Cold Tone Harvest. Our emcee is Willy Porter.
